Now suppose there were millions of years of earth history with uniformaritarian processes at work. The various rock strata would be formed by sediments over eons. Now what are these fossilized trees doing cutting thorough millions of years of history? Would dead trees just decay and dissipate?
Creationists have studied this and have proposed a better model. The eruption of Mt. St. Helens caused numerous trees to float in Spirit lake. As they settled, they imbedded themselves in the lake bottom, many times in a vertical position.
