At the 1100 foot level and at the 1920 foot level Ore crushers would grind the ore into coarsely sized pieces for transport to the surface by the large ore hoist in the hoisthouse located at the top of the main shaft.
At he surface the the ore is transported to a second crusher that reduces the ore to the size of one inch.
